In order to install Scribus on Mac Big Sur, you need to chose a version from the development directory on Sourceforge. https://sourceforge.net/projects/scribus/files/scribus-devel/.
in fact both trying with https://formulae.brew.sh/cask/scribus and with the official versions I had no success.
I finally installed version 1.5.8.
